When is the last time YOU updated your home router firmware?
On Saturday August 7, 2021, Bleeping Computer published an article about a critical vulnerability in home routers running the Arcadyan firmware.
This vulnerability affects dozens of router models from multiple vendors and ISP's including:
- ASUS
- British Telecom
- Deutsche Telekom
- Orange
- O2
- Verizon
- Vodafone
- Telstra; and
- Telus
Based on how many vendors and ISP are affected here, the number of devices this affects is likely in the MILLIONS.
If your home router is affected threat actors are able to bypass authentication, and then take over your router to deploy malicious payloads.
This type of an attack can affect your home router, your home computers and other connected devices.
And if you work from home, this can also impact your company's network and any cloud services your company uses!
Take the time today to update your home routers firmware to the latest available version.
And even if your router model is not on this list, update your router to the latest firmware anyway.
Going forward, get in the habit of checking your home router firmware once a month and keep it updated to the latest version.
